Sean Wotherspoon x Mizuno is finally here. The Virginia-born designer's first collaboration with the Japanese brand reworks the Wave MG4 LS, and the global "Estate Blue" pair landed at NOIRFONCE on October 30, 2026. It arrives through SWJP, his own label, and it carries the kind of detail we have come to expect from him. We have been waiting for this one since the first images surfaced in October.
Most of us met Wotherspoon through a single shoe. His corduroy Nike Air Max 1/97 from 2018 turned a vintage-store owner into one of the most recognizable names in sneakers. Since then he has worked with adidas and ASICS, always bringing his love of thrifted fabrics and playful color. With SWJP, he now designs under his own name for the first time.
SWJP is a two-person project split between Los Angeles and Tokyo. Wotherspoon is designer and creative director, working alongside Ryunosuke "Uchi" Uchida, a Tokyo designer who co-directs the label. That geography is printed right on the shoe, where "LA TO TOKYO" runs across the lateral heel. It is a small line of text, but it explains the whole partnership.
Mizuno was a natural match for that story. The brand was founded in Osaka in 1906 by brothers Rihachi and Rizo Mizuno, and running has been part of its identity for decades. The Wave MG4 LS is one of its retro runners, first released in 2006 and brought back for its Sportstyle line. It is a shoe that already looks good worn in, which suits Wotherspoon perfectly.
The global pair is where Wotherspoon's love of vintage denim takes over. The upper mixes denim, mesh, and synthetics in Estate Blue and white, with High Risk Red accents. An original SWJP check graphic runs through the design, and silver leather wraps the heel. Inside, plaid insoles carry his branding, and an extra set of laces lets you make the pair your own.
The campaign behind the pack is called "One Pair, Two Worlds." It follows Mizuno's "From City To Nature" idea, opening on the streets of Shibuya before heading into Japan's mountains. The point is that one silhouette can handle both settings. With the MG4's running roots and an upper built from hard-wearing denim, we think the argument holds up.
The pack has a second pair that most of us will only see in photos. A Light Grey, Off-White, and Black version stands for the city side of the story, and it is sold only in Japan. It is a quieter take that leans on texture rather than color. The Estate Blue pair is the one released worldwide, and it is the one we carry.
The Mizuno x Sean Wotherspoon Wave MG4 "Estate Blue" is at NOIRFONCE for €149.99, in sizes 41 to 46. You can find it on our product page or at our Madrid store on Calle Fortuny 51. If you like the place where running and lifestyle meet, our story on the Nike Skylon 11 is a good next read.
