Asics Gel-DS Trainer SP Glacier Grey: the 2000s running icon reborn as a ballet sneaker

Back in the mid-2000s, Asics built its name on technical track trainers engineered for pure performance. The Gel-DS Trainer, a product of that era, returns today in an SP edition that trades the usual running-shoe codes for a slim, elegant silhouette closer to a ballet flat — a move that taps straight into the "ballet sneaker" wave currently taking over Europe's sneaker scene.

In the Glacier Grey/Pure Silver colourway, the streamlined upper in technical mesh and synthetic overlays reworks the classic three-point support structure of Asics' athletics trainers, reshaped here to hug the foot like a slipper. The TRUSSTIC unit under the arch adds stability, while GEL cushioning at the heel absorbs impact and smooths the stride. The build stays deliberately light for comfort that lasts all day.

The light, metallic grey tone pairs effortlessly with raw denim and an oversized blazer, or with a midi skirt and technical shorts — proof of the versatility that today's streetwear wardrobe demands.

Sitting between running heritage and ballet-inspired design, the Gel-DS Trainer SP stands out as one of this season's most sought-after hybrid sneakers, alongside the other icons of the Y2K running revival.

Available now at noirfonce.eu in sizes 36 to 40.5, with fast delivery across Europe and secure instalment payment.
