Nike Air Max Plus FA Black: the TN takes to the pitch

Launched in 1998 and designed by Sean McDowell, the Nike Air Max Plus earned its TN nickname from its Tuned Air technology, while its unmistakable side waves were inspired by palm trees swaying against a sunset. Nearly three decades on, it remains one of the most recognisable trainers in street culture. For Autumn/Winter 2026, Nike reworks it with this football-minded FA version.

The key change sits on the sidewalls: the raised TPU cage is replaced by pronounced leather panels that follow the familiar wave lines, with a ridged, stitched texture that nods to Nike Tiempo boots. The black colourway is lifted by Volt and white hits, a purple and green badge on the tongue and a gum outsole. Underneath, the visible Air unit and chunky profile that made the TN a legend stay firmly in place.

Style these men's trainers with tech-fleece joggers and a puffer for an unapologetic street look, or with straight raw denim and a vintage football shirt to lean into the terrace reference.
