Adidas Superstar: from the NBA to hip-hop

Launched in 1969 as a basketball shoe, the Adidas Superstar made its name with the rubber shell toe designed to protect players' feet on court. Worn by pros through the 1970s, it later became the uniform of hip-hop when Run-DMC wore it laceless and dedicated the track "My Adidas" to it.
