Asics women's trainers: Gel NYC, Gel Kayano and the running icons with cult status

Asics for women: from Japanese running to fashion

Asics was born in 1949 in Kobe, Japan, when Kihachiro Onitsuka started making sports shoes. Its current name, adopted in 1977, comes from the Latin motto Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, a sound mind in a sound body. A running specialist from the start, the brand popularised its GEL cushioning from the 1980s onwards. Today its technical models with a retro look have become wardrobe staples for women across Europe, worn far beyond the athletics track.

Gel NYC, Gel Kayano 14 and 12.1: Asics women's trainers

This collection of Asics women's trainers showcases the most wanted silhouettes. The Gel NYC comes in Oyster Grey, Barely Rose, Cream, Bluebell, Cocoa Powder and Black. The Gel Kayano 14 is available in Soft Yellow, Menthol, Pistachio, Sweet Pink and White Ivory, and the Gel Kayano 12.1 in Graphite Grey, Ice Green and Dragon Fruit. You will also find the Gel 1130, Gel Kayano 20, Gel Cumulus 16, Gel-Nimbus 27 and the Superblast 3 for runners.

Sizing and comfort: choosing your Asics

Built on running heritage, Asics trainers deliver generous cushioning thanks to the GEL units in the sole, ideal for long days on your feet. Most models, such as the Gel NYC and Gel Kayano 14, fit true to size: stick to your usual size, or go half a size up if you have wide feet. Asics often uses unisex sizing, so check the size guide on each product page, which also shows the sizes genuinely in stock in real time.

How to wear Asics women's trainers every day

Asics women's trainers go with almost everything. A Gel NYC in Cream or Oyster Grey looks great with straight-leg jeans, joggers or a midi skirt for a sporty-feminine contrast. Pastel shades like the Gel Kayano 14 Sweet Pink or Pistachio add colour to a neutral outfit, while the Gel 1130 in Black stays low-key enough for the office. Paired with a trench coat or an oversized jacket, these retro runners create a modern, relaxed silhouette.
