Adidas x Pokémon Samba OG "Mewtwo": the terrace icon takes on the colours of a legendary Pokémon

Born around 1950 as a training shoe for footballers on frozen pitches, the Samba has become one of the most worn Adidas trainers on the planet. In 2026 it joins the Adidas Originals x Pokémon anniversary collection, created to mark 30 years of the Japanese franchise and released on 22 September 2026. Around fifteen models pay tribute to Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar and Rayquaza, and the Samba OG went to Mewtwo, Pokémon No. 150 from Generation 1, engineered in a lab from Mew's DNA and still one of the most iconic characters in the series.

The official Ice Lavender / Ice Lavender / Violet Fusion colourway wraps the upper in pale lilac. Smooth leather meets coated leather with a shimmering finish that shifts with the light, while the Samba DNA stays intact: low profile, T-toe overlay and serrated Three Stripes. The Pokémon touches reward a closer look: Mewtwo's face on the tongue label, a glossy violet heel cup, decorative lace accents and a collab-branded sockliner. The eyestay has just three lace holes, a knowing nod to the character's three fingers. A textile lining and rubber outsole complete the build.

This lavender Samba is easy to style. Raw denim, grey marl joggers or ecru chinos let the lilac and violet stand out, topped with a white sweatshirt, a vintage track jacket or a beige trench. Unisex by design, it works for Gen 1 fans and for anyone who simply wants a Samba with more personality than the usual black and white pairs.
