Adidas x Pokémon ZX 8000 "Mewtwo": the 1989 Torsion runner pays tribute to Pokémon No. 150

To mark 30 years of Pokémon, Adidas Originals dropped a wide-ranging collab that turns its classics, from the Samba to the Superstar, into tributes to fan favourites from Pikachu to Mewtwo. Released on 22 September 2026, the ZX 8000 "Mewtwo" brings two icons together. On one side, the ZX 8000, introduced in 1989 and designed by Jacques Chassaing and Markus Thaler, one of the first Adidas runners built around the Torsion system. On the other, Mewtwo, Pokémon No. 150 from Generation 1, the psychic-type legend that remains one of the most recognisable characters in the franchise.

The upper layers synthetic materials with leather overlays in the official Ice Lavender / Violet Fusion / Bliss Lilac colourway: a pale lavender base with deep violet on the toe, Three Stripes and lining, echoing Mewtwo's body and tail. The details run deep: a Mewtwo portrait on the tongue, MEWTWO lettering on the lateral stripes, the character's eyes just below the eyestays and a sculpted heel that mirrors its horns. On the medial leather panel, Mew, the Pokémon it was cloned from, is subtly debossed. A Poké Ball dubrae, a purple sockliner with a gold Trefoil and Mewtwo graphic, and the Torsion bar for stability complete the package.

Those pastel tones are easy to wear: grey marl joggers, raw denim or black cargos let the violet do the talking, while a white oversized hoodie or a dark coach jacket keeps the fit balanced.
