Autry Medalist Low "Cemento": cement grey takes the Medalist into autumn and winter

In 1982, Jim Autry founded a brand in Dallas to kit out everyday athletes: tennis players, runners and aerobics fans. On the running side, his Jetstreamers earned five stars from Runner's World; on court, the Medalist was named the best shoe on the market by Tennis Magazine in 1985. Since its 2019 revival, the brand has reworked that icon season after season. In the Cemento colourway, the Medalist Low switches to a mineral palette made for the colder months.

The upper combines 80% leather with 20% suede. White leather forms the base, while cement grey suede reinforcements wrap the toe and trace the outline of the silhouette, giving a softer, more textured finish than an all-leather Medalist. The leather heel tab carries the Autry logo, an embroidered label sits on the tongue and a jacquard side patch nods to the brand's heritage. A padded collar, flat cotton laces, leather and cotton terry lining, a 2 cm raised leather insole and a 2.5 to 3.5 cm rubber sole complete the build.

Cement grey is a handy ally when the days get shorter. It works with a grey marl wool coat, ecru corduroy trousers or black jeans and a heavyweight sweatshirt. The neutral tone blends into black, navy or camel wardrobes, and the suede adds texture that plays well with knits and wool.

Plenty of guys retire their white trainers when autumn hits. The Medalist Low Cemento offers another route: a light trainer softened by grey that keeps the clean tennis shape while matching the muted tones of winter. It is a men's lifestyle trainer that proves grey is anything but boring, and one of the easiest colourways to wear through the cold season.
