Nike ACG Zegama Trail GTX "Black": the Zegama goes GORE-TEX for all-weather miles

The ACG Zegama Trail GTX is Nike's All Conditions Gear idea taken to its logical end. It starts with the Zegama, a max-cushioned trail shoe named after a Basque village with legendary status in mountain running, and adds a GORE-TEX membrane to take on rain, puddles and waterlogged paths. The GTX in the name signals exactly that: the waterproof version.

The upper pairs waterproof GORE-TEX fabric with a stretch membrane and a light, hard-wearing mesh. A roomier forefoot and toe box let your foot splay for stability, while a stretchy ankle cuff hugs the heel and keeps debris out. Underfoot, ultra-light ZoomX foam is teamed with a layer of Cushlon 3.0 for protection and stability, and a Vibram Megagrip outsole with Traction Lug technology holds on wet rock and mud. Expect a 4 mm drop, around 350 g in a men's US 10 and reflective details for head-torch runs.

The Black/Cream II/Cave Stone colourway sets a black base against cream and stone-grey accents. It pairs easily with a waterproof jacket, thermal tights or softshell trousers, and works in town through winter with cargo trousers and a parka.

Among waterproof trail running shoes, the ACG Zegama Trail GTX stands out for its maximum cushioning, which is rare on a GORE-TEX pair. It is the obvious pick for runners who refuse to skip a session when the weather turns, from muddy autumn fells to snowy mountain trails.
