Nike Moon Shoe OG 'Tough Red': where Nike's running story began

Before Nike was even called Nike, track coach and co-founder Bill Bowerman was experimenting with his wife's waffle iron to create a grippier sole. In 1972, a tiny handmade run of Moon Shoes was produced for the US Olympic trials. The name is said to come from the waffle-sole footprints, which looked a lot like the astronauts' prints on the lunar surface. It's a genuine origin story for the modern running shoe.

The Nike Moon Shoe OG brings that prototype back with a nylon upper and a leather Swoosh, giving it a textured, true-to-the-seventies look.
