Nike x Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe Studio: the studio sneaker built for everything

New York artist Tom Sachs, known for his handmade sculptures and his "Space Program", has worked with Nike for years under the NikeCraft banner. After the Mars Yard, designed for space, he created the General Purpose Shoe as a shoe for Earth: simple, tough and ready for every part of daily life. Launched in 2022, it is one of his "perennial" models, restocked on a regular basis.

The Studio colourway takes its cue from the artist's workshop. The cream upper carries Light Bone suede overlays and a white Swoosh, while blue hits mark the tongue and heel pull tabs that make it easy to get on and off. The upper blends leather and mesh for durability, lightness and breathability. The three-piece moulded cupsole, reinforced at the toe and heel, sits on a waffle-pattern rubber outsole with large lugs for reliable traction.

These women's Nike trainers have a clean look that works with straight-leg denim, work trousers or a dress, and the neutral palette goes with the whole wardrobe.

Part art world, part outdoor pragmatism, the Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe is one of Nike's most distinctive collaborations and a strong pick for anyone after a cult pair.
